Drama in Gortnahoe for Church Restoration
The Glengoole-Gortnahoe Drama Group kindly present their two One Act Plays, ‘Acid Drops’ and ‘Dispensary Dan’ in aid of Gortnahoe Church Restoration Fund, in Gortnahoe Hall on this Sunday night 4th February at 8.30. Admission Adults  €10.00, children €5.00. Support great entertainment. Come early and be sure of a seat.

The first prize in the Raffle at the play will be a Reading 24 Jersey in honour of Shane Long. We also welcome further prizes for the Raffle.

Confirmation
The special Confirmation Ceremony of Commitment for all the families of those receiving Confirmation this year will take place this week. The ceremony for the families of Gortnahoe school will be in Gortnahoe Church on Wednesday night at 7.30 and the ceremony of the families of the children attending Ballysloe and Glengoole will be in Glengoole Church on Thursday night at 7.30. Everyone is welcome and please include those families in your prayers. A special Talk on Preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation will take place in St Patrick’s College, Thurles on Monday 12th February at 7.30. The focus will be on preparing parents who have children for Confirmation. The speaker will be Catherine McCormack, who is a teacher & Counsellor/Chaplain in the College. Please give names as it includes tea/coffee.

Vigil in Thurles Cathedral
To mark the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes there will be a three-hour Vigil in Thurles Cathedral on Saturday night 10th February, starting with Mass at 7.30.

Sunday of Prayer for the Sick
Sunday next, the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, marks the special Sunday of Prayer for the Sick. Special prayers for the sick and for all who care for the sick will be included in Masses next weekend.

Congratulations and Best Wishes
Our sincerest congratulations  go the Shane Long on bringing such honour to himself, his family and the parish and the country. We wish the best of success to him in the future.

Meeting in Ballysloe School
There will be a meeting of the St. Vincent de Paul Conference in Ballysloe School on Tuesday night at 7.30.

Draughts
All children interested in Draughts are invited again this year to Gortnahoe Community Centre on Tuesday nights from 7.30 to 9.00, starting next Tuesday night. It will be for under-10s, under-12s and under-14s.

Open Day
Presentation Secondary School, Ballingarry will hold an Open Day on Sunday 4th February at 2.30. All welcome. Further information from Tom Fennessey, Principal at 052 54104.
