Temperance Sunday
On this Temperance Sunday we invite you to consider the importance of temperance in the use of alcohol. Please read about the bishop’s letter dealing with temperance and moderation in the daily newspapers.
Morning Masses
Glengoole each morning except Monday at 9.30
Gortnahoe: each morning at 9.30.
Lent
Wednesday next is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. It is a day of fast and abstinence. Masses in Glengoole will be at 9.30 and 7.00. Masses in Gortnahoe Hall will be at 9.30 and 7.30. Trocaire Boxes will be distributed shortly. We encourage everyone to undertake something spiritual during Lent and continue it during the whole of Lent.
Bereavement
A short course on Bereavement will take place in St. Patrick’s College, Thurles on Mondays February 19th and 26th at 7.30 dealing with the topics of; Looking at the experience of bereavement, Living with grief, Coping with Loss, and Supporting the Bereaved. The speaker will be Jim Rhattigan, Milford Hospice, Limerick.
Gortnahoe Juvenile G.A.A Club Meeting
The Annual General Meeting of Gortnahoe Juvenile G.A.A Club will be held on Friday night 23rd February at 8.30 in the GAA Club Rooms.
Clothes in aid of the Missions
There will be a collection of clothes in aid of the Missions on Tuesday next 20th February. Please leave your bags at Gornahoe or Glengoole halls early on Tuesday morning.
Ballina Killaloe Rescue Unit
You are invited to the launch of a rescue boat bought by Ballina Killaloe Rescue Unit, thanks to your generosity after the funeral of the late Thomas Dalton. It will be at the Kincora Hotel, Killaloe on this Sunday at 1.00.
Parents Association Meeting
Gortnahoe N.S. Parents Association will hold a meeting in Gortnahoe Community Centre on Wednesday 21st Feb. at 9.00. All parents welcome.
Grange Badminton Club
Grange Badminton Club will hold a Table Quiz at Mary Willie Pub on Friday night 23rd February at 9.00. Support will be appreciated.
Ballysloe Community Group Meeting
A meeting of Ballysloe Community Group will be held in Ballysloe School on Thursday night 22nd February at 8.30. to report on progress to date.

Prayer for Ash Wednesday
Lord, bless the ashes by which we show that we are dust. Pardon our sins and keep us faithful to the discipline of Lent, for you do not want sinners to die but to live with the risen Christ, who reigns with you for ever and ever. Amen.
