Baptism Thoughts
The birth of a baby is a time of wonder, joy and celebration for the parents, family and friends. For the parents the wonder of being father and mother of this new-born baby will always be so special. The great prayer is that the baby and mother will be safe and healthy after the birth. The wishes of family and friends is that the baby will be the source of happiness and blessing now and in the years ahead. God wishes us to know that this baby is special to Him and He will adopt the baby into his family in the sacrament of Baptism.

So the next important day is the baptism of the baby. Arranging a suitable day with Fr. O’Rourke or Fr. Walsh should be done soon. Because the baby is being made a child of God the names given to the baby should include the name of a saint or Our Lady and the baby is being put in their care.

Thanksgiving Prayer for our Baptism
Blessed are you, Lord God, ruler of all creation. You have made your beloved children, brothers and sisters of Jesus our saviour and temples of the Holy Spirit. Father, we thank you for making us Christians, give us your help to continue fighting against temptations to sin, and to live with Christ always. Lead all people into your kingdom of light. All praise and glory be to you, Father, through your Son, Jesus Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit. Now and forever. Amen.
