FAS launch 'Services Training Programme' in the Millennium Family Resource Centre. A forty-week FETAC accredited part-time course runs from the 18th September 2006 to 7th July 2007. This is the third year that FAS has supported this programme in the Slieveardagh area. To-date over 50 people have taken part in the course and many have gone on to further education, training and employment.

The aim of the training course is to provide skills based educational programme designed to meet the needs of people living in a rural area. The twenty-eight women here to-day are beginning a journey of self-discovery, developing new skills, making new friends and working together to support each other. Their days will be full either in the beautiful catering kitchen, the state of the art IT Centre (with Broadband) or the bright friendly tutor rooms. Art & Craft, Maths, Caring for the Older Person, Childcare, Children with Special Needs, Catering for Diversity, HACCP, Cookery & Nutrition are just some of the modules covered by the programme.

The Millennium family Resource Centre in Glengoole is a community development project funded by the Family Support Agency to tackle disadvantage and marginalisation in a rural community. Serving the Slieveardagh area it  encourages participation in training education, life-long learning for all who live in the area especially people who for a variety of reasons may not have completed their formal education, have a recognised skill or qualification or have been out of the work force for a number of years.

As well as running these courses, the centre has a new childcare facility which offers both pre-school and after-schools in Glengoole, it is developing full-day childcare in Ballingarry, it providing a variety of services to the public including FAX, Photocopying, Internet Access (broadband), CV and other document preparation.
